As I think about planting a church I am faced with some difficult hurdles. One of those hurdles is having the opportunity to preach on a regular basis. One afternoon I was having coffee with another pastor in the area and he asked me how often will I get to speak before we plant the church. My answer took him back. I told him that at the most it would possibly be 3 times. His immediate answer was “that is not enough”. The reason for his statement was that he feels that one of the toughest pieces of being a pastor is putting together sermons every week and keeping them fresh and creative. I would have to agree with him.
So as I was faced with this dilemma, I mentioned a crazy idea. I could begin to prepare sermons and preach them to myself and record them. Once they are recorded I could podcast them. It sounded crazy at the time, but the more I think about it, the more is sounds pretty cool.
