Counting Blessings, Not Sheep

I just wanted to post something before I go off to bed. It has been a little while since my last post. As I sit here with my eyes closing from another long day, I am reflecting on what God is doing. I am so blessed. God has done so many great things in my life; too many to number.

I am completely overwhelmed at the fact that He has called me into His service. I have a chance to do one of the greatest jobs on the planet. No way do I feel like I deserve this call, but I know that He does not call the qualified, He qualifies the called. Boy do I need the qualifying.

We are only 112 days away from our first preview service at Relevant Church. We have a ton of things to do and very little time to do it in. I know that God is faithful and He will provide all that we need.

So tonight, I will be counting my blessings, not sheep.

In the Spirit of Thanksgiving

This year will probably be different than most from many of us. With the downturn of the economy and the unstableness of our future, it seems like we have nothing to be thankful for. I have run into many people that have lost jobs and lost savings and the only thing that they have is their family.

This year I am taking a different look at the holidays. I am going to take some time to be thankful for the small things in life. In the midst of all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, I want to take a look around me and see the people that I am with. Sometimes we take for granted the people that are always around. This year I am going to make a special time to let my wife and children know just how thankful I am for them and how God has blessed me with a great family.

Here is a challenge to all of you out there. Take some time this year and write down the top 5 things that God has blessed you with. Make these things the focus of your Thanksgiving Day. Please don’t forget to give Him all the glory for those things. He is the reason we have all the blessings in the first place.

I would love to hear you top 5 lists.

Here is mine.

  1. My wife Amber
  2. My 3 Kids
  3. Being able to do His work.
  4. My health
  5. His provision

Turkey Day

In all the anticipation of the upcoming holidays I want to be reminded of the reason for all of the holidays. Many times we forget to take the time to give thanks to God for all he has done for us. So during the Thanksgiving season, remember what you are thankful for. Remember what God has done for you and your family. I know that I am thankful for the blessings he has given to my family, my wife, my children, and most importantly, the salvation he has so freely given.

Happy Thanksgiving
